Woe for the Pars

Wednesday 3 January 2024

It is now the third day into the month of January and already it feels like we have been in January for over a week! There is a sense of anticipation regarding the transfer window but so far nothing has happened! There has been rumours about interest in an experienced Plymouth Argyle centre back Macaulay Gillesphey and West Ham’s Conor Coventry (23 year old midfielder) but expect there to be many more rumours over the days to come.
It was not such a good day yesterday as the mighty Pars failed to rise to the occasion of a local Fife derby and fell to a 1-2 home defeat to table topping Raith Rovers. They will have been ‘dancing on the streets of Raith’ after that one. Dunfermline slip out of the play-offs by one point but have a game in hand. Only six points off the relegation play-off place though and with an injury list not far short of Charlton’s they too need to be busy in this transfer window.
I didn’t make it across to Fife and instead had a couple of walks with Marianne over 3 miles as well as a morning yoga followed by group cycling at David Lloyd Club in Renfrew. Progress on my ‘lose weight’ New Year Resolution at least! Walking and fresh air a good antidote to the excesses of Christmas and New Year and little joy or ho ho ho on the footie front!
